The wife is identified as the helper, and the husband is identified as the head. Each of these titles has its unique responsibilities and accountability. But how does a wife submit to her husband as required in Ephesians 5:22 and Colossians 3:18? How do they live simultaneously in mutual submission, as described in Ephesians 5:21? What a mystery this is! 
 
We have difficulty applying this truth in our daily lives and family experiences. Since the fall of Adam, marriage has turned into a significant struggle for control. Husbands are accused of dominating their wives, and wives are accused of seeking to manipulate or control their husbands.
